Outreach and Training

As a service to the community, professionals from Fairfield County Adult Protective Services are available to speak and present information to local organizations and community partners regarding abuse, neglect and exploitation. Presentations can be designed to fit your needs and may include opportunities for activities and questions.

Speaking Topics may include:

  • Overview of Elder Abuse/APS
  • Indicators of Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation
  • APS Screening guidelines
  • Referral process and expectations
  • Collaboration and role of community partners
Our dedicated staff have also prepared additional training to meet the needs of seniors in our community. “Be a Victor Not a Victim” is a short presentation designed to assist elders in recognizing concerns related to financial exploitation and avoiding scams often targeting the elderly.

Mandated Reporters

Many professionals are individuals required by law to report suspicions of child abuse and neglect. We offer trainings to mandated reporters to meet their specific needs of that include:
  • Mandated reporter law
  • Screening guidelines and assessment tools
  • Referral process and expectations
  • Overview of abuse, neglect and exploitation
