The department conducts routine information sessions to provide a program overview and information regarding job seeking and training services. Customers can register for this information session at ohiomeansjobs.com. After the information session you will work with a career advisor to review your current skills and abilities, develop a resume and conduct a job search. Training money is utilized after intensive services are utilized and explored.

Do you know anyone that will hire an offender?

After you have a misdemeanor or felony you can obtain employment but it may be a little harder initially. It is recommended you write a letter of explanation to provide a potential employer. As with any job seeker you should utilize networking and use word of mouth to let people know you are looking for a job. Restaurants are a forgiving industry where you can easily obtain employment. This will allow the job seeker the opportunity to gain job time, a positive reference for future employment and demonstrate trustworthy behavior.

Is there a local unemployment office?

The State of Ohio does not have a local unemployment office. The OhioMeansJobs Fairfield County Center can provide you with resource information to file for unemployment at www.unemployment.ohio.gov or by filing over the phone by calling 1-877-644-6562 to speak to an agent.
